Evelyn A. DAPAAH
Former Intern January 2006
Student - International University in Geneva, Switzerland

My internship with the Debt and Financial Management Programme at UNITAR
has truly been an enriching experience, in both theoretical and practical
aspects as I got to know more about UNITARs e-Learning programme.
This experience has been unique in terms of cultural understanding and
learning to work in multicultural environment. The major assignments
I undertook beside the day-to-day activities were:
- Compiling a Report of the Joint UNITAR/WAIFEM
Workshop on Negotiation of Financial Transactions for Anglophone,
West Africa, Banjul, The Gambia (5-9 September 05) and the Joint UNITAR/AusAID
Workshop on Legal Aspects of public debt management and drafting clauses
of loan agreement, Jakarta, Indonesia (21-25 November 05);
- Establishing a database for Indonesian
Loan Agreements on UNITARs intranet and a database of relevant
legislation (Companies Act and Securities Act) of sub-Saharan African
countries;
- Reviewing UNITARs e-Learning
course Legal aspects of public debt management, which
is an introductory course intended for government officials from developing
countries;
- Assisting in compiling an online
course assessment report on Fundamentals of Capital Market Development
and Regulation (August 15-Sept 23 2005) and the assessment report
on Negotiation of Financial Transactions (September 5-October
14 2005);
- Internet research of images for UNITARs
e-Learning course Effective Public Debt Management; and
- Assisting in the day-to-day activities
like faxing, preparation of hard copies of assessment reports, etc.
I could work independently and had a
lot of responsibility, so I was always very motivated and gained substantial
knowledge. I want to thank Mr. Kamal for the great supervision and useful
feedbacks and Mr. Adalla for his helpful support. I really enjoyed the
friendly, open and funny atmosphere within UNITAR.
